Wootton Hall, Henley-in-Arden

Wootton Hall based in Henley-in-Arden is a Grade II listed building, built during the early 18th century. The main house is currently divided into luxury flats and the extensive grounds, known as “The Retreat” are home to a variety of park homes and newer developments.

William Morris Surveys were approached to carry out a survey of the main house, this was to include detailed floor plans and elevation drawings. Due to the age of the property, some restorative changes were planned for the original building and new layout changes to other internal sections.

At first glance Wootton Hall could be considered daunting to any survey company due to the age and sheer scale of the property. However, on reflection of the survey, the Hall really is a great testament to the design and construction carried out during that era.

Featuring a cellar almost the size of the overall footprint of the building and large open halls, WMS had the opportunity to use total stations to supplement the hand measuring of smaller individual rooms. This combination allowed for high accuracy and plenty of redundancy checks throughout the Hall.

William Morris Surveys were delighted to provide a competitive and timely service on this project. Being involved in the restoration of such an iconic property was both challenging and highly rewarding. As a testament to the service provided we have since been invited back to carry out similar surveys of other buildings within the grounds.
